The New Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Touchscreen Phone

Here's another touchscreen handset for those who dislike normal keypads. Nokia has just launch its first ever touchscreen device. Nokia fans meet the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Let look at he details on this device.

Nokia's press release indicated that the Nokia 5800 touchscreen will first hit European markets in the fourth quarter of 2008. The first Nokia touchscreen mobile phone will arrive in the US and other markets during the first quarter of 2009. Unfortunately, the pricing information for this stylish device was not yet released.

The mobile phone maker hopes to reach out to the youth market by releasing a touch screen-based device. I think this is a great strategy considering that younger users are attractive to cool looking touchscreen handsets. The Nokia 5800 also belongs to the XpressMusic line so its music and media applications will appeal to younger users.

Let's take a look at the hardware. The toucsreen display of the Nokia 5800 measures 3.2 inches across. It will have 640 x 360 pixels for QVGA resolution which makes a a vibrant display for videos and other applications. Interestingly, Nokia's touchscreen device does not use not touch-capacitance but touch-resistance. We'll see now it will perform when the reviews come out.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and dual LED flashes. It can also shoot video at 30 frames per second. This means that it will have a better camera than the iPhone and the Samsung Instinct. I think it matches up well with the LG Dare's camera.

The device will run S60 5th Edition a platform that supports touch input. This platform will offer a new contacts bar, a new media key and simplified menu systems. The media key will provide access to music and entertainment applications.

here are the key features of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Touchscreen Phone:

  • Wi-Fi.
  • quad-band GSM/EDGE

Do you want to own a touchscreen device? Well, I wouldn't blame you. The evolution of mobile phone technology has lead to the development of high-end and sophisticated touchscreen mobile phones.

Touchscreen cell phones are on the top of the mobile phone market. These devices are cool and attractive so they have dominated the current market. Here are some of the top touchscreen phones in the market.

Fortunately, a new touchscreen phone has be released and this one is offered at an affordable price. Meet the LG KP500 touchscreen.

There in not a lot of info on the LG KP500 touchscreen cell phone because it is relatively new. 3G iPhone Hot News

Now that the 3G iPhone has finally landed, I thought that it would be fun to posts the latest news. I have read about various news on the 3G iPhone and not all of them are good.

Let's begin with some hot iPhone news from Apple. Apple has reported that it sold its one millionth iPhone 3G . Steve Jobs proudly announced that, “iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend. It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world.”

Well, I think that this is not a total surprise. With all the hype surrounding it, there's no doubt that the iPhone 3G will sell well. The fact that it's also being offered in more than twenty countries around the world helped Apple to sell one million 3G iPhone units. The success of the original iPhone also paved the way for the next generation device.

Apple has also reported that the iPhone Apps Store is also a big success. More than 10 million applications from the new App Store were down loaded by Phone and iPod touch customers. The App Store now has more than 800 native applications, including over 200 offered for free. Customers also dis the fact that more than 90 percent of the applications are being offered for less than $10. I think the success also relied on the successful Apple hands4eeets and devices.

However, it's not all good news for Apple. The early reviews for the 3G iPhone are less than impressive. There were some complaints about the device's battery life. Apparently, 3G networks uses up a lot of energy and the new iPhone battery couldn't keep up. There were also complaints about the new software, GPS and on the activation process. There were some customers that lamented the lack of some features on the next generation iPhone.

To quell some of the negative rumors being leveled at their product, iPhone marketing head Greg Joswiak released some statements. He revealed that the iPhone maker has an internal priority list of features for the next generation device. Unfortunately, copy/paste support was not included, even though Apple went far down the feature priority list with the 3G version.

The head of iPhone marketing also clarified that there are no technical issues preventing turn-by-turn directions with the 3G iPhone's GPS feature. Joswiak also indicated that he is unaware of any technical reasons why an office suite isn't already in the App Store. He also admitted that the lack of a cross-application file structure could impede development on the device.

That's just a few of the latest iPhone news. Tune in to this blog for more updates.

The Cost of Making the 3G iPhone

With the 3G iPhone taking the mobile phone world by storm, a lot of stories have circulated about this popular device. One of the recent stories ion the 3G iPhone involves the actual cost of making one. According to Portelligent Inc., the raw cost of materials to build the 3G iPhone could be nearly half that of the original model.

Portelligent Inc., an Austin, Texas-based teardown specialist, claim that their tests show that the iPhone 3G could have a BOM as low as $100. Some experts say that Apple decided to cut the cost on the next generation iPhone to be able to extend its toehold in the massive mobile phone market.

Here's a statement from David Carey, the president of Portelligent,
Gen2 iPhone pricing is aggressive enough that it made me think Apple's really taking the gloves off on this one. They are probably not as worried about iPhone hardware profits as they are about getting a piece of the action on service revenues and getting more Macs in homes and offices all around the globe.

The 3G iPhone have 3G and GPS chipsets that are expensive materials but Apple is saving on other components. For instance, the handset's display for the new device is about fifty percent cheaper because of engineering changes.

However, Portelligent’s conclusions are not final because the company didn’t actually have an actual iPhone 3G for their evaluation.

Well, this is certainly interesting because I thought that the 3G iPhone will be more expensive to make than the first model. Then again, there are no clear answers yet because the company admitted that they were unable to test the real thing. Perhaps they will get the chance when the 3G iPhone launches in July 11.

Experts are predicting that the 3G iPhone will even be more popular than the original version. The new phone is bring sold for only $199 so that may mean that Apple's profits may be down. However, the lower price and the anticipation for a faster iPhone means that the 3g version may sell more units than the original.

Apple is also bringing the 3G iPhone to numerous countries which means more units will be sold. The iPhone maker has announced agreements with a wide range of carriers across Asia, Europe and the U.S. On July 11, more than 20 countries will begin selling the 3G iPhone. Apple officials have said that before the year ends 50 carriers will provide the handset to mobile phone users through out the globe.

Well, I think mobile phone users appreciate that the new iPhone has a cheaper price tag. There is no doubt that the device has a great influence in the mobile phone industry. The cheaper iPhone has even encouraged Sprint to sell the Samsung Instinct for about $130. We'll see how things progress when the 3G iPhone hits the stores on July 11th.

3G iPhone Finally Launched

Finally. After months of endless rumor and intrigue, the 3G iPhone is finally here.

As many expected, Apple's Steve Jobs announced the 3G version of the hit mobile phone/ipod at WWDC 2008. Die hard fans of Apple's iPhone can finally rest after a long, leak-filled wait, because Apple finally took the wraps off the 3G version.

Let me offer a short summary of the events that unfolded. This piece of info is all over the web so you can easily get the long version if you prefer to read through all of it. Let's begin.

The next generation iPhone offers obviously but Apple is ensuring that it's available to international markets. This means that the company is making an effort to make the 3G version work with enterprises and run 3rd party applications for a reasonable fee.

According to Apple and Steve Jobs, The 3G iPhone speeds are superior to all the current competition. They claim that its pageloads are 36% faster when compared to other multi media devices such as the N95 and Treo 750. And the old EDGE data speeds offer no comparison to the current 3G speed of the newly introduced device.

There has been a lot of discussions over the battery life of the new iPhone because 3G is notorious when it comes to draining batteries. Apple has tackled this issue and announced that the new device will offer 300 hours of standby, 8-10 hours of 2G talk, 5 hours of 3G talk, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of audio.

The announcement at WWDC 2008 confirmed rumors that the new device from Apple will offer GPS. The new iPhone is using A-GPS, which supplements regular satellite GPS data with info from cellular towers. It also offers WiFi data is which will enable users a pretty connection in every location.

Apple also announced that they are planning to launch the 3G iPhone in 70 countries this year. The 8GB version will be sold for $199 and the white 16GB version for $299. However, both versions still require a contract. On July 11, Apple's very anticipated device will be hit 22 markets including the US. I can't wait for July 11.

3G IPhone Bargain Bonanza

I picked up this exciting 3G iPhone rumor while surfing the web. According to this Fortune.cnn.com article, a source revealed that AT&T is making some special plans to enhance the release of Apple's 3G iPhone.

The exclusive U.S. iPhone distributor is rumored to be planning to cut the price of the highly popular handset by as much as $200 when the 3G version is launched this summer. If it's true that AT&T will subsidize $200 of the cost of a new iPhone, then the price will be brought down to $199. This will be available for customers who sign two-year contracts according to the source of this rumor.

Naturally, representatives from both AT&T and Apple declined to comment when confronted with these rumors. If this plan is true, then they are probably keeping it a secret to maximize its impact on the market and to keep other carriers from making a quick response.

If the 3G iPhone will be sold for 200 hundred bucks then a wider consumer market will be able to afford it. AT&T will have an attractive offer that can lure lucrative customers away from rival mobile phone service providers. It would be logical the new iPhone will likely be locked or programmed to prevent buyers from taking the discounted handset to another network.

Plenty of rumors have surfaced about the upcoming 3G iPhone. The highly popular mobile device may be to be released on the one-year anniversary of the original version.

Fortune's source claims that Apple will cease to release the original version once the 3G device is in the market. This move may be seen as an attempt to clear out inventory and stir up demand for the new 3G version.

The source of the rumor also offered other details on the upcoming 3G iPhone. One of these details is the new version will be slimmer by 2.5 mm than the older model. The new iPhone may also offer a GPS chip for navigation and other location-based services.

Well, this is certainly an interesting rumor. If it's true then a lot of people will definitely purchase the 3G iPhone. I know I would. However, these are just rumors and there are tons of rumors on Apple's hit handset these days. Tune in for more updates or confirmations on these rumors.

iPhone Continues to Fuel AT&T's Growth

The huge popularity of the iPhone meant success for the carrier that offers. AT&T is still experience the effects of Apple's device and is still growing strong as indicated by its earnings for this year.

AT&T Mobility reported customer additions that are similar with last years customer increase. The gains in the number of new customers has pushed the carrier’s to increase to more than seventeen percent. Experts believe that the ongoing strong sales of Apple Inc.’s iPhone is the main cause of this growth boost. The continued weakness at Sprint Nextel Corp. is also a significant factor in the strong growth experienced by AT&T.

Let's explore the details of AT&T's iPhone powered growth. The mobile phone carrier reported that 1.295 million net wireless customers were added during the first quarter of this year. This number represented an increase of 8.7% compared with the figures taken on the first quarter of 2007.

With the addition of these new customers, AT&T's customer base now number more than 71.3 million subscribers. However, the nation's no.1 carrier also lost some customers. When the carrier shut down its TDMA network in late February, around 330,000 customers defected to other networks.

AT&T Mobility's average revenue per user also increased pushed the carrier’s service revenues to $10.6 billion for the quarter. The carrier's data services accounted for $2.3 billion, or 21.5%, of total service revenues. An increase in the carrier's equipment revenues during the quarter pushed total revenues up.

All these growth in various areas boosted AT&T’s income during the first quarter of 2008 to $2.9 billion. With the iPhone still going strong, this trend will probably continue. The launch of the anticipated 3G iPhone could also bring more customers and increased income for the carrier. The success brought about by this remarkable handset has encouraged other networks to find a handset that will duplicate the iPhone's powerful appeal.
