I've always featured phones that are bound for major carriers so I thought it would be a change to blog about a phone that will be offered by a regional carrier. The LG Rhythm bound for Alltel Wireless also offers other dedicated music features such as a digital signal processing and a graphic equalizer. This Alltel music cellphone also has a 3.5mm headset jack that allows users to pug in their regular headphones.

The New Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Touchscreen Phone

Here's another touchscreen handset for those who dislike normal keypads. Nokia has just launch its first ever touchscreen device. Nokia fans meet the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Let look at he details on this device.

Nokia's press release indicated that the Nokia 5800 touchscreen will first hit European markets in the fourth quarter of 2008. The first Nokia touchscreen mobile phone will arrive in the US and other markets during the first quarter of 2009. Unfortunately, the pricing information for this stylish device was not yet released.

The mobile phone maker hopes to reach out to the youth market by releasing a touch screen-based device. I think this is a great strategy considering that younger users are attractive to cool looking touchscreen handsets. The Nokia 5800 also belongs to the XpressMusic line so its music and media applications will appeal to younger users.

Let's take a look at the hardware. The toucsreen display of the Nokia 5800 measures 3.2 inches across. It will have 640 x 360 pixels for QVGA resolution which makes a a vibrant display for videos and other applications. Interestingly, Nokia's touchscreen device does not use not touch-capacitance but touch-resistance. We'll see now it will perform when the reviews come out.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and dual LED flashes. It can also shoot video at 30 frames per second. This means that it will have a better camera than the iPhone and the Samsung Instinct. I think it matches up well with the LG Dare's camera.

The device will run S60 5th Edition a platform that supports touch input. This platform will offer a new contacts bar, a new media key and simplified menu systems. The media key will provide access to music and entertainment applications.

Do you want to own a touchscreen device? Well, I wouldn't blame you. The evolution of mobile phone technology has lead to the development of high-end and sophisticated touchscreen mobile phones.

Touchscreen cell phones are on the top of the mobile phone market. These devices are cool and attractive so they have dominated the current market. Here are some of the top touchscreen phones in the market.

  • LG Prada II
  • LG Voyager

  • T-Mobile G1
It's clear that touchscreen phones are popular and cool but they can also be very costly. Some carriers have offered them at low prices but they are often bundled with wireless plans that can cost up to several hundred dollars. Fortunately, a new touchscreen phone has be released and this one is offered at an affordable price. Meet the LG KP500 touchscreen.

There in not a lot of info on the LG KP500 touchscreen cell phone because it is relatively new. But we have enough information to know that this affordable touchscreen handset will appeal to many customers. This device will be released on October 2008 in Europe and then on to the rest of the world. The affordable price of the LG KP500 will be also announced during the October launch.

Since the LG KP500 touchscreen is being marketed as an affordable handset we can't expect it to pack as much features as the high end touchscreen phones. The Google phone has been the subject of countless rumors and discussions in the last several months. There were even some speculation that delays may force T-Mobile and HTC to launch the device in 2009. Fortunately for Android fans, the device was completed well before the end of the year.

The T-Mobile G1 is a feature packed smartphone that features a large touchscreen display, a trackball, and a hidden full QWERTY text keyboard. Here are some of the features offered by this Android based mobile phone:

There are similarities between the powerful devices such as the touchscreen display, over-the-air downloadable App store and music store and the wide array of features. However, The G1 also offers features that are missing from the iPhone such as the full QWERTY keyboard, track ball, copy and paste functionality. It also offers Voice dialing, memory expansion card slot and removable battery which are absent on the iPhone.

The Android OS was created by Google and many phone companies and carriers have already committed to adopting the platform. Naturally, the T-Mobile G1 is tied up with Google services. the first android phone will offer Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps Street View, and other Google services.

Will this device topple the iPhone? Well, it may appeal to a different market. Some fashion conscious users may find it too bulky. However, this is just the first Android phone so stylish Android based devices may be released in the future. Nevertheless, the T-Mobile G1 is a major handset that will make waves in the mobile phone industry.
