Music Phones to Increase in Coming Years

Do you like music? If you do, then here's some good news for you. In the coming years, more cellphones will have to capability to music.

An article from news.com says that a research market report from MultiMedia Intelligence predicts that half of mobile phones will be able to play music in 2011. The report defines a music phone as a handset that is equipped with a memory card slot and capable of playing music files.

It was also reveled on the that consumers prefer music phones than ordinary portable music players. Last year, 500 million music phones were shipped last. That's 300 million more compared to the number of portable music players that were shipped.

The marketability of music is emphasized in the article. We love listening to music so a device that is capable of playing music files has a distinct advantage against non-music playing handsets.

Music-playing capability has great potential in terms of encouraging consumers to purchase mobile phones. Hence, mobile phone manufacturers and carriers are expected to include music in their marketing plans and strategies.

Well, I think that this is great news. Music phones are wonderful devices but they are more expensive than ordinary handsets. This report may mean that the capability to play music may become a common feature or affordable music phones may be soon be available.
